James Constable

James Constable Sensei (6th dan, Shidion) started Aikido 35 years ago in Bermuda where he trained diligently under Collins Smith Sensei (7th dan, Shihan). In 2006 James move to Nova Scotia Canada, opened Lunenburg Aikikai, and spent the next 20 years working to build the dojo and affiliated dojos in Maritime Canada. James has recently returned to Bermuda and while he remains engaged and involved with Luneburg Aikikai, he has passed on the day-to-day operation to his senior student, Jason Martell.

Jason Martell, 3rd dan, Fukoshidoin, Dojo-cho

Sensei (3rd dan, Fukoshidoin) began his practice at Lunenburg Aikikai in 2010 under James Constable Sensei. Jason was the first person in Lunenburg Aikikai’s Soto Deshi program (dedicated apprentice) and as such has been a key player in the running of and growth of the dojo. Jason has also had the opportunity to travel extensively to practice with notable teachers such as Donovan Wate Shihan, Collins Smith Shihan, and many others. With Constable Sensei’s return to Bermuda Jason has stepped up to take on the role of Dojo-cho and chief instructor.
